Meet Rich Green
The Sawyer Hall Director
B.A. in Journalism and Media Studies with minors in Organizational Leadership and Political Science, Rutgers University
M.A. in College Student Personnel, Bowling Green State University
What did you choose to become a Hall Director?
I chose to become a Hall Director after spending four years working in residential life during my undergraduate and graduate school journeys. Residential life has helped me to find my passions, both personally and professionally, that have led me to UNH. I believe residential life can be the catalyst for student growth and I am happy to help make that growth happen on a daily basis within the Hall Director role.
I am a Hall Director who believes exploration, relationships, and social change are vital to the human experience. The goal is to empower residents to become passionate and congruent Changemakers who value lifelong learning.
Why did you choose to work for Res Life at the University of New Hampshire?
I chose the University of New Hampshire because I believe that the department truly works to help students grow through their academic and their co-curricular passions. I believe that I can make a difference at UNH and there is room for me to grow personally and professionally.
I was also excited to move to the Seacoast region of New Hampshire and explore New England life! I grew up in New Jersey and spent two years in Ohio for graduate school but I was looking for something new… UNH offered me that!
What advice would you give to students?
The best advice that I can give a student is to remember that everyone’s collegiate journey is different and it is important to follow your passions. While comparison to others is inevitable, it is important to remember that your passions can be accomplished and there are resources at UNH to help you succeed. There might be challenges along the way, and there might even be changes to your journey, but it’s important to make it your own!
